Part of New Deck Construction in Aurora, IL

Osnova Construction has published 1 Composite Decks project in Aurora, IL, completed in 2026.

Composite is the material most of our clients end up choosing, and for a Chicago-area deck it is hard to argue with: no staining, no splinters, no gray-out by year three, and a board that does not care whether January is wet or dry. Frequently Asked Questions

For most homeowners, capped composite is the sweet spot — it handles freeze-thaw cycles, humidity, and UV without splintering or needing annual staining.

Yes. Every project is backed by a written workmanship warranty, on top of the manufacturer warranties for materials we install.

All three make a capped composite that will outlast the frame under it. The real choice is the line within the brand: the entry lines are solid value, the top lines add deeper wood grain, more color variation and a heat-reducing cap. We bring samples of each so you can compare them in your own light.

Darker boards do, in full afternoon sun, like any dark surface. Lighter colors and the newer heat-mitigating caps stay noticeably cooler. If the deck faces west and you go barefoot, pick a lighter board or plan a pergola.

Only if the frame is sound and the joists are 16 inches apart or closer. Composite is heavier and more flexible than wood, so on 24-inch joists it feels spongy. We check the frame first; if it passes, that job is a resurfacing, see Deck Repair & Remodeling.

Composite is wood fiber and plastic with a protective cap; PVC is plastic through and through. PVC is lighter, more stain-resistant and cooler, and it costs more. For a pool deck or a full-sun exposure PVC is worth it; for most backyards capped composite is the better value.
